DescriptionThe University of Virginia School of Nursing, Department of Nursing Research The Department of Nursing Research at the University of Virginia School of Nursing invites applications for a *tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor* position in *Neuroscience*.

We seek a dynamic scholar whose research complements and expands our existing strengths.

As a teacher and scholar, the successful candidate will shape and advance the understanding of brain function across the lifespan through the integration of neuroscience research into clinical practice, education, and/or health policy.

This position will be a leader in contributing to the school’s strategic priorities, which include building the [Areas of Excellence in research](https://www.nursing.virginia.edu/research/) and our commitments to interdisciplinary collaboration.

The faculty member will play an important part in collaboratively strengthening and expanding our research infrastructure within the School of Nursing and broader University of Virginia community.

University of Virginia's 2030 plan recognizes Brain and Neuroscience as a major societal challenge and an opportunity that draws on its existing strength.

In partnership, the Provost and the Deans of various schools are making multiple, coordinated faculty recruitments to strengthen the community of neuroscientists across the University.

Recruits will receive support from the Provost and their School Dean and join the Brain Institute activities.

This is part of a major Grand Challenges research investment of over $75M in the Brain and Neuroscience.

Candidates may bring expertise in one or more of the following areas: * Mental health and brain science * Neurodevelopment * Neurodegeneration * Aging research * Caregiver support and related health outcomes * Precision health approaches in neuroscience and health care The successful candidate will be expected to: * Establish and sustain an independent, externally funded program of research * Demonstrate a record of scholarly achievement with potential for national recognition * Contribute to teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and/or graduate level * Collaborate effectively with colleagues across disciplines in research, teaching, and service Qualifiations* PhD in nursing or a related field by the time of appointment * Candidates must be eligible for licensure to practice nursing in Virginia * Be eligible for the rank of assistant professor or associate professor * Evidence of research productivity and scholarly achievement (e.g., publications, presentations, prior external grant support) * Demonstrated potential to develop and maintain a funded program of scientific research Application InstructionsApply online at [https://apply.interfolio.com/172978](https://apply.interfolio.com/172978).
