Job description

The Department of Geography in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Remote Sensing of the Built Environment.

The Department views remote sensing of the built environment (broadly understood as critical physical infrastructure and urban areas) and related applications as an important growth area.

This position will support our B.S. degree program in Geography and Geographic Information Science and Technology, M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs in Geography, the online Master's of Geoscience program, the B.S. degrees in our College-Level Environmental Programs, and a graduate certificate program in Geospatial Intelligence.

The successful candidate will have a proven research record and a strong commitment to education and professionalization of undergraduate and graduate students and will have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research with a record of scholarly publications, both relative to their career stage.

We also expect that successful candidates will have experience in or demonstrated potential for securing external research funding.

This is a nine-month full-time annual appointment with an anticipated start date of August 2026.

In addition to research expectations, the successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise graduate students.

Faculty are also expected to participate in appropriate disciplinary service and contribute to departmental and university committees.

Required: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Geography or related field with a research focus on remote sensing of the built environment.


Preferred: Professional experience in the area of Geospatial Intelligence is preferred but not required.
