OVERVIEW

The Mechanical Engineering Department in the School of Engineering at the University of St. Thomas is seeking to expand our team of faculty.

This is an exciting time for growth in the Mechanical Engineering program at St Thomas.

In spring 2024, we will move into the new $110M Schoenecker Center with state-of-the-art engineering labs, including a prototyping center, robotics and automation lab, and an advanced materials lab, as well as an expansion of our Manufacturing & Machining Center.

As a student-focused institution with a strong hands-on curriculum, we emphasize undergraduate and graduate education that provides technical excellence with a significant emphasis on real world applications.

Successful candidates will be expected to develop and deliver an engaging set of courses in their area of expertise, as well as establish and maintain an active research program.

Applications from candidates with specialization in all areas of mechanical engineering are welcome.

The search will give special consideration to candidates with expertise and experience in Design, Manufacturing, Robotics and Automation.

QUALIFICATIONS

A PhD in a relevant Engineering discipline is required, as well as a clearly articulated vision for advancing a research program, or alternatively, candidates who are nearing the completion of their PhD will be considered.

A timeline for Ph.D. completion will be discussed during the interview process and agreed upon prior to extension of an offer.

All applicants must have demonstrable skills necessary for excellence in teaching.

Candidates with experience working in industry are encouraged to apply.

For candidates whose primary experience is in the engineering industry (outside of academia), skill in teaching may be demonstrated based on other professional experiences which require leadership and presentation skills.
