The Department of Computer Science at the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Quantum Computing.
We invite candidates from all areas of quantum computing to apply, including but not limited to: Quantum computing theory (quantum algorithms, quantum complexity theory, quantum information theory, and quantum error correcting codes), quantum computing and communication systems (quantum computer architecture, fault-tolerant quantum computing, quantum programming language and software, quantum communication and networking), and applications of quantum computing to important or emerging areas such as quantum optimization and quantum machine learning.
CU Boulder sits at the center of one of the world's most vibrant quantum information science and engineering ecosystems.
The Boulder area is home to Elevate Quantum, a U.S. Department of Commerce-designated Tech Hub that unites more than 70 partners across academia, national laboratories, startups, and established companies.
The area also hosts a thriving cluster of quantum companies - including Infleqtion (ColdQuanta), Quantinuum, Atom Computing, and Oxford Ionics (now IonQ) - making it one of the nation's leading quantum industry centers.
CU Boulder has launched a quantum incubator that has secured over $20 million in investment capital to accelerate quantum innovation.
CU Boulder also leads major federally funded quantum research centers and initiatives, including NSF Quantum Leap Challenge Institute for Quantum Systems through Entangled Science and Engineering (NSF Q-SEnSE).

The Department of Computer Science is the fastest growing and largest department within the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder).
The department is home to over 50 tenured and tenure-track faculty plus 25 instructional faculty, and now includes about 2000 undergraduate and 500 graduate students.

**What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be**
+ Successful candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring; develop an externally funded research program in their technical area; contribute professional leadership and service to their unit, the college, and their professional community; and cultivate and contribute to the inclusive excellence of our academic community.
+ The typical distribution of work for this role is 40% teaching, 40% scholarly and creative work (research), and 20% leadership and service.

+ The anticipated academic year salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor rank is $125,000 - $135,000.
