Job description

Johns Hopkins University is going through a major new investment (https://engineering.jhu.edu/news/major-investment-in-the-power-promise-of-data-science-artificial-intelligence/) in data science and the exploration of artificial intelligence.

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (https://engineering.jhu.edu/ece/) is embarking on an aggressive hiring effort for multiple tenure-track positions.



While we consider all areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering, we are primarily seeking excellent candidates whose research falls into one of the following research areas:



Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence.

Computer Architecture; energy-efficient hardware; edge computing; embedded systems; hardware security; integrated systems and power electronics.



Communications, Networks, and Artificial Intelligence.

Software defined networking; network security; mobile networking; coding/compression; AI in wireless.



We are particularly interested in interdisciplinary researchers whose who are considering applications over a wide range of areas including national security, societal safety, materials design, public health, clinical care, neuroscience, space systems, and policy.

The faculty will be part of the University's new Data Science and AI Institute (https://ai.jhu.edu/) and have access to its unparalleled computational infrastructure (https://ai.jhu.edu/about/compute-infrastructure/) .





The Department of Electrical & Computer has 32 full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty members, 8 research and 3 teaching faculty members, 150 PhD students, over 100 MSE students, and 140 undergraduate students.





Applications will be considered at all levels.

The expected salary range for this position will is:



Assistant Professors $150k-$200k

Associate Professors $190k-$260k

Professors $220k-$500k



The referenced salary range is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting.

The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will be based on factors including, but not limited to, the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate - e.g., years in rank, training, field, discipline, other work experience, and other similar factors; geographic location; internal equity; external market conditions; and other factors as reasonably determined by the University.

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in electrical, computer engineering or a related field and will be expected to contribute to the growth of the Electrical & Computer engineering program, develop an independent research program, secure research funding, and teach courses in the electrical & computer engineering area.



Salary: Assistant Professors: $150k-$200k; Associate Professors: $190k-$260k; Professors: $220k-$500k

Job Type: Full Time
The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting.

Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity.

Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
