This is a on-site role with work being performed at the Capitol Complex in Washington, D.C.

So, what will the Radio Systems Maintenance Technician Terrestris do?

As the Radio Systems Maintenance Technician, you will provide technical support for the United States Capitol Police (USCP) by maintaining and troubleshooting radio systems and communications equipment.

The technician will be part of the Office of Information Systems (OIS) Radio Services Division (RSD), ensuring that critical radio communications infrastructure remains fully operational and supports the communication needs of the USCP.

This includes performing regular maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to both hardware and software for a variety of radio systems used by law enforcement personnel.

What does a typical day look like for the Radio Systems Maintenance Technician?

You will:

1. Provide support maintenance of Motorola Trunked and Conventional radio system core hardware, network devices, and associated components.
2. Complete moto-patching of equipment, devices and network components.
3. Maintain RF antenna systems of various frequencies and power levels with components to include: Transmit combiners, receive multi-couplers, duplexers, pass and reject filtering, diplexers, and precision tuned filter assemblies with test equipment to include Vector Network Analyzers, return loss bridges, tracking generators with spectrum analyzers, antenna analyzers and power meters.
4. Ascertain performance of equipment is at or exceeding minimum expected manufacturer performance along with ability to exceed minimum levels to ensure best performance of radio sites for coverage in both talk-in and talk-out coverage to selected service areas.
5. Complete inventory of all systems, document the components and devices, maintain logs on performance and changes, and complete site binders associated with site layout, service entities for all equipment, wiring diagrams and network references, and descriptions of service area sites to use for reference when missions require an offline copy.
6. Report items found outside of expected operation or performance to the COR for next steps to monitor, restore or enhance depending on risk to operational mission.

4. Telephone line test set
5. Digital VOM
6. Ethernet test set
7. USB test set
8. Programming software for LMR devices and equipment
9. Technical Maintenance and Awareness of AC and DC Power Plants.
10. Experience in the inspection of:
1. AC Power supporting communications equipment.
2. DC power systems that support equipment mounted in vehicles or are fixed and operate solely on DC power.
3. Experience in inspecting and verifying proper operation of:
1. Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS)
2. Emergency Power systems to include Generators, DC power plants, and similar backup or emergency power systems that support communication equipment
4. Knowledge of:
1. Proper procedures on lock-out/tag-out when opening from mains or power sources equipment for maintenance.
2. The reversal of restoring power to equipment shall follow industry methods of power-up and include procedures from the program office when required
3. Similar equipment, tools and or devices that maintain various equipment within trunked and conventional radio systems.
