Medtronic’s Test Development Team in Tempe, Arizona, is looking for a Test Development Engineer II to develop firmware routines to support manufacturing electrical test, precision parametric measurement, dynamic signal analysis, and automated test system software for PCB level and Device level integrated system level testing.

We are working onsite 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary.

This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

A Day in the Life Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment.
  • Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices.
  • Provides test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed.
  • Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
  • Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.
  • Collaborate with multiple internal functions to define test requirements, test methods, and improvement opportunities.
  • Must Have:

  • BS degree and a minimum of 2 years of Engineering experience OR an MS Degree with no relevant experience or a PhD
  • Nice to Have:

  • Working experience with embedded system and firmware/software development
  • Working knowledge on ultra low-power ASIC testing preferred.
  • Developing software applications using ATE (Automated Test Equipment) to test medical electronics.
  • Designing, developing and debugging dedicated hardware and software, performing test verification and validation activities, performing Measurement Systems Analysis (Gage R&R studies); all in support of test solution release for manufacturing testing of medical grade electronics
  • Utilizing software languages and environments preferably in DS-5, C, C++, LabView, and Test Stand to support test application software development
  • Familiarity with IEEE 1149 JTAG standards and vector generation.
  • Familiarity with Burn-in and how it is utilized in manufacturing.
  • Troubleshooting yield and performance issues to root cause using statistics-based analyses and providing related technical solutions
  • Following test application development procedures and demonstrate compliance through technical documentation generation
  • Designing electrical schematics and understanding PCB layout requirements
  • Fundamental statistical analysis techniques
  • Fundamental project management skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to work and contribute in a team based environment

    In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a short-term incentive plan, which provides the opportunity to earn significant incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your goals.

    The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations).

    Salary ranges for U.S (excl.

    PR) locations (USD):$83,200.00 - $124,800.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California.

    The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.

    Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

    The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance,Health Savings Account,Healthcare Flexible Spending Account,Life insurance, Long-term disability leave,Dependent daycare spending account,Tuition assistance/reimbursement, andSimple Steps (global well-being program).
