Test Engineer - Warren, OH

Job Summary:

Ajax Tocco is seeking a Test Engineer to test/debug solid-state power supplies, controls systems utilizing PLC & HMIs, and heat treating of parts.

Functions include high power testing, troubleshooting problems with control systems, debugging PLC ladder logic, and working with metallurgist to develop recipes to meet the customers’ demands.

The ideal candidate has working knowledge of PLC & HMI programming as well as strong problem-solving skills.

Robotics and automation experience is a plus.

Perform basic field commissioning and start-up of ATM machines.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Position requires a good understanding of basic electrical test procedures and test equipment
  • An understanding of 3-phase wiring, high-voltage safety procedures, basic wiring, electronic and electrical troubleshooting, and basic electronic power components, including, but not limited to: SCRs, diodes, transistors, capacitors, inductors, hydraulics, mosfets, pneumatics, hydraulics
  • Specific knowledge of induction heating and melting equipment a plus
  • Actively engages in all training programs that encompass all aspects of the test function to expand and improve coverage and personnel qualifications (this done largely through practice and OJT)
  • Coordinates the inspection and test response to schedule requirements as identified at regular production meetings held with Test/Quality supervision and management
  • Adheres to work procedures, such as lock-out and tag and arc-flash standards
  • Establishes/maintains effective lines of communication and feedback with manufacturing supervisors, engineers, and test personnel to ensure prompt attention and resolution of conditions that adversely affect quality
  • Monitors, maintains, or develops performance reporting systems relative to the effectiveness of the inspection and testing operations and initiate action based upon results
  • Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent preferred
  • Five years electronics and/or electrical test or repair experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of our organization.

  • Attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with various teams as well as independently
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Competent in the use of PLC & HMI programming software
  • Professional attitude and the ability to represent our company with integrity
