Job Title: Deputy US Arts Editor

Terms: Full-time, permanent, News Media Guild role
Typical shift pattern: Monday to Friday
Annual salary range: $105-115k
Purpose of the role
The deputy US arts editor will help commission and write the Guardian's US-focused arts and culture coverage.
The arts team aims to expertly cover news while producing reactive and longer term features, essays and arranging interviews pegged to the latest films, books, TV shows, albums, plays and exhibitions.
We're looking for a rounded editor and writer who's passionate about culture and the ways it intersects with core Guardian issues, crafting articles that will appeal to a wider news-focused audience.
You should be an experienced journalist who is aware of and excited by a wide variety of entertainment, from the latest Netflix hit series to a politically charged documentary to a provocative tell-all memoir to a much-talked-about new exhibition.
You should be comfortable working independently and taking charge, with significant experience in digital journalism and news/feature editing.
Knowledge & experience
Applicants should be enthusiastic, diplomatic, deadline-driven, assertive editors/journalists with sound news judgement and who have a knowledge and understanding of Guardian's values.
