The New York Times Company is hiring: Editor, Newsroom Development and Support N

Job description

Overview

The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

That means independent journalism is at the heart of all we do as a company.

It’s why we have a world-renowned newsroom that reports from nearly 160 countries and focuses on how readers experience our journalism across print, audio, and digital platforms.

This role leads The New York Times Newsroom Development and Support (NDS) to guide the evolution of internal tools and practices that empower journalists to produce their best work.

You are a dynamic leader who can guide the ongoing transformation of the newsroom creators and the teams that support their work.

You bring a strong journalistic foundation to steer the department into its next chapter and have the flexibility to oversee a team that includes journalists, technologists, trainers, and project managers.

The NDS team comprises two groups: the editorial development arm designs training programs and curricula on updated tools and topics from clear writing to effective tagging; the newsroom technology group focuses on internal and external tools (publishing, planning, data management) and acts as the newsroom interface to product, design, and engineering teams.

This is a hybrid role based in New York City with regular in-office attendance per departmental guidance.
