The Seattle Times is looking for a Deputy Metro Editor.
The ideal candidate will be a focused, aggressive and highly organized editor capable of expertly leading their own reporters while elevating the work of the larger newsroom.
We want someone who can direct news, improve our digital performance and work across reporting teams.
This key editor will oversee our breaking news operation — a high-tempo team that plays a critical role in keeping our community informed and our digital platforms humming.
We want a newsroom leader who is energized by breaking news, trending news and utility-driven stories.
We are seeking someone confident in high-stakes situations and driven by ensuring our readers get the news they need — first, fast and with context.
You will lead a breaking news team that in total includes two editors and five reporters.
You would directly supervise the two breaking news editors and one reporter, while working closely with others across the newsroom to drive coverage that anticipates what our audiences are asking and delivers answers in real time.

Responsibilities
Compensation: The full salary range for this position is $90,000 to $127,000.
We typically pay between $100,000 to $120,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
