What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is currently seeking to fill the position of Traffic Engineer (PE) in our Nashville, TN office.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Conduct and manage Traffic Impact Studies (TIS) for various development projects.Perform operational analyses using Synchro, SIDRA, and HCS to evaluate intersection and corridor performance.Design and review traffic signal plans, including phasing, wiring, and detection layouts, in compliance with TDOT and local standards.Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to resolve a variety of complex problemsSupervises the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the projectPrepares and reviews technical reports, drawings, plans, specifications, and permits for projectsUses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documentsPrepares cost estimates for assigned projectsConducts project site visits, as neededDemonstrates strong attention to detailDemonstrates strong organizational and time management skills; Works independently on multiple tasks without immediate supervisionBuilds and maintains excellent interpersonal relationshipsDemonstrates working knowledge of Tennessee Department of Transportation and Nashville Department of Transportation systems, policies, and proceduresUnderstands standard operations, policies and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industryPerforms other duties as requestedEducation & Experience Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited programMinimum of 5 years of traffic engineering experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) license in TN or an ability to obtain PE in TN within 6 months of start date is requiredExperience using CAD software such as OpenRoads, AutoCAD or MicroStation V8i is requiredExperience using traffic modeling software such as Synchro, Vistro, or SIDRA is requiredWorking knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles, practices and techniques, including MUTCD, HCM, and ITE Trip Generation ManualSkill using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and ExcelNDOT and/or TDOT project experience is desiredWhy join us?
