*General Description:*The Rural and Faith-Based Program Coordinator serves as a vital member of the Veterans Mental Health Department responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and facilitating the implementation of a network of Community Based Organizations (CBOs) that provide and coordinate programs and services to support Veterans and their families in rural communities.

Should have experience or background in rural settings to understand and address the unique needs of these areas.

Will establish and maintain effective relationships with CBOs, FBOs, civic, community, military, federal, state, and local agencies and departments.

Work includes serving as liaison to CBOs and FBOs, representing the Texas Veterans Commission within the Veteran community, and coordinating outreach opportunities.

This position reports to the Operations Manager of the Veterans Mental Health.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*
· Works in partnership with CBOs, FBOs, and providers to develop and implement a referral network of programs and services that specifically support Veterans and their families in rural communities.
· Builds and maintains a cooperative network of peer counterparts in CBOs and FBOs to gather information and share ideas regarding programs and services for Veterans and their families.
· Collaborates with CBOs, FBOs, civic, military, federal, state, and local leaders to develop and promote new and ongoing initiatives and organization-wide resources that provide tools, guidance, and assistance to Veterans and their families.
· Assists with the development and implementation of outreach plans and promotional campaigns designed to reach Veterans and families living in rural areas.
· Participates in and makes presentations at public information seminars, attends Veterans seminars, and represents the Texas Veterans Commission at various public functions.
· Implements processes to deliver, monitor, manage, and report on training and technical assistance efforts.
· Evaluates the effectiveness of local programs and makes recommendations for modification or improvement.
· Promotes efforts to increase access to mental health services for Veterans and their families.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.

*Minimum Education:*
Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year college or university.Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis to meet qualifications.*College Transcripts are required and must be provided before an interview can be extended, it is preferred they be attached to the application.*

2-4 years of experience working in a Veteran-focused support setting, or related experience in the job duties listed above.


*Additional Requirements*: 
· Occasional evening or weekend hours.
· Occasional overnight travel.
· A valid Texas Driver’s License must be provided within 90 days of hire.

*Preferred Experience and Qualification:*
· Honorably discharged veteran
· A bachelor’s degree or higher in counseling, social work, psychology, religious studies, chaplaincy, or a related mental health field.
· Preferably resides in a rural area and demonstrates knowledge of rural communities, resources, and challenges.
*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*
· Knowledge of programs and services available to Veterans and their families, particularly in rural communities.
· Knowledge of current issues affecting Veterans.
· Skill in performing advanced computer functions and using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and other computer-based programs, including conducting thorough internet research.
· Skill in developing, organizing, and delivering formal presentations.
· Ability to maintain strong working relationships with CBOs, VSOs, civic groups, community organizations, military, and federal, state, and local agencies/departments.
· Ability to work independently with efficiency and strong organizational skills.
· Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
· Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
· Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, to individuals and large audiences.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective public contacts
*Environmental & Physical Conditions: *
Office work environment with frequent travel required, including the potential for long-distances.

May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds.

Work involves extensive telephone usage and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motions while using the computer.
