Position Summary:
As the first-line manager for the Medical Surgical department, the Nursing Director is responsible for overseeing the specific nursing area, its patient population, and the staff assigned.
This role carries the responsibility of 24-hour oversight for the unit's operations, focusing on strategic planning, coordination, and direction of fiscal, personnel, and patient care activities to achieve optimal standards of care and practice in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing is mandatory; preference for Bachelor of Science in Nursing. License/Certifications: Must possess a current North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license at the time of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is essential from day one. Experience: Proven experience as a clinical director in a hospital environment is crucial.
Preferred Qualifications:
Over five years of clinical nursing experience, ideally in Medical/Surgical settings. Master of Science in Nursing. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) & Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Experience in critical care within a hospital setting.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and direct department operations including patient care delivery, technology integration, service level determinations, and handling of grievances to achieve performance and quality objectives. Develop departmental goals, plans, and standards in alignment with the organizational administrative, legal, and ethical requirements. Organize and supervise staffing procedures, from recruitment and orientation to evaluation and disciplinary measures. Monitor and manage departmental budgets and ensure operations comply with allocated funding. Foster a professional environment conducive to growth and implement evidence-based practices in operational and clinical protocols.
