Summary

Description of Position:

Serve as the Director of Project Management for StrokeNet and Non-Network projects at Data Coordination Unit (DCU).

This high-level leadership position requires detailed understanding of the Network and non-network trials workscope and working closely with the DCU Directors, Section Head Directors, and external StrokeNet collaborators to ensure synergy and consistency within the Network.

This person will be responsible for the hiring, management, and direct supervision of StrokeNet DCU project management staff and will oversee the project management activities of StrokeNet and Non-Network trials coordinated by DCU.

NIH StrokeNet Network was created to conduct small and large clinical trials and research studies to advance acute stroke treatment, stroke prevention, and recovery and rehabilitation following a stroke across the lifespan.

All trials conducted within the Network have their own NIH grant award, are required to be multicenter, and may include international sites.

DCU is currently managing 10 multicenter clinical trials, 2 ancillary studies, and a novel platform trial within StrokeNet.

We anticipate 6 more trials to be added to the Network in the next 3-4 years.

In addition, DCU has 9 ongoing non-network multicenter trials being conducted in a variety of therapeutic areas.

All trials have their own NIH grant award, are multicenter, and may include international sites.

Job Description

Description of Position:

Job Duties:

1.

Provide comprehensive guidance and direction to StrokeNet and non-network collaborators pertaining to clinical trial issues.

Work with the StrokeNet’s leadership team on study-related issues confronting the Network and participate in new project development.

Attend and present at StrokeNet and non-network meetings such as data and safety monitoring board meetings, investigator meetings, NIH meetings and study executive committee meetings.

Work closely with DCU Leadership to determine project management staffing needs for StrokeNet and non-network projects.

Manage the efforts of StrokeNet and non-network project management research staff, including working closely with the Director on forecasting and budget planning.

Hire, train, supervise, and mentor DCU StrokeNet and non-network project management staff including conducting annual reviews.

Identify areas that can benefit from synergy and consistency within the Unit.

Create quality management plans including organizing educational seminars for StrokeNet and non-network personnel within the unit to facilitate ongoing training and dissemination of information.

Identify key areas across project management that require correction or improvement and provide direction and strategies to overcome barriers to accuracy, reliability, and efficiency, including the oversight of Network database changes.

Maintain and oversee all central and site monitoring activities to ensure it meets DCU, StrokeNet, and trial requirements.

Oversee the work of the DCU project managers to ensure all site monitoring activities are being completed efficiently.

Assess StrokeNet and non-network procedures with a focus on risk and implement changes to ensure high quality Network conduct.

7.

Interpret policy and ensure StrokeNet and non-network procedures comply with federal regulations, good clinical practice, FDA guidance, and institutional requirements.

Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and four years relevant program experience.
