Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL).

Education: Associate’s degree with two years of relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization.


Responsibilities



  • Write and proofread for print (e.g., Ytori magazine, newsletters, invitations, posters, news articles, brochures, letters, fact sheets); submit to editor for final review.

  • Plan and execute content projects: identify subjects, interview faculty/staff/students/alumni, research/background, and tailor voice/tone to the medium.

  • Write and proofread for digital (news site, unit webpages, dean’s updates, email communications); submit to editor for final review.

  • Support special communications projects as assigned by the editor.

  • Contribute basic photography/videography as needed.


The salary is $45,000 - $50,000.


This is a TEAMS position—UF’s designation for staff roles—eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including paid leave, retirement plans, and health insurance.

Required Qualifications


Associate’s degree and two years of appropriate experience or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s in English, Journalism, or related field and a Master’s degree; 2+ years in a communications role; adherence to professional journalistic standards.

  • Mastery of AP Style with experience in substantive editing, copyediting, and proofreading.

  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, manage priorities, and communicate progress.

  • Exceptional writing: translate complex topics into clear, lively, accessible prose; familiarity with strategic messaging; growth mindset and sense of humor.

  • Web fluency: accessibility and basic SEO for the web; social media proficiency; experience with Google Analytics.

  • Tools: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, Acrobat); email marketing platforms (Emma, Mailchimp, HubSpot).

  • Visuals & data: data visualization, photography, and videography experience.

  • Collaboration & setting: organized self-starter who can work independently and on teams; comfortable interacting with university faculty about their research.
