Overview

Title: Lecturer, CC (Digital Media Art).

Position Number: pending.

Hiring Unit: Hawaii Community College.

Location: East Hawaii (Hilo), West Hawaii (Kailua-Kona), and/or North Hawaii (Honokaa) Campuses.

Date Posted: April 10, 2025.

Closing Date: Continuous Recruitment.

Salary Information: Minimum $1,911.00 per credit.

Temporary/Permanent: Temporary.

Funding: General.

Other Conditions

Part-time, non-tenure track, for placement in Spring, Summer and/or Fall lecturer pool, assignments as needed, contingent on availability of funds and actual staffing requirements for East Hawaii (Hilo), West Hawaii (Kailua-Kona), and/or North Hawaii (Honokaa) campuses.

Must be able to attend meetings and trainings on short notice as well as teach courses in person, as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, conduct lecture and as appropriate, laboratory courses in the discipline.
  • May include instructional assignment involving distance education.
  • Maintain at least one office hour per week for each class taught.
  • Possible evening, weekend and off-campus assignments.
  • Conduct student evaluations of teaching effectiveness.
  • Participate in assessment of course learning outcomes.
  • Adhere to all due dates, including the online submission of grades.

Minimum Qualifications

  • (a) Master's in Fine Arts in Studio Art with the specialization in new media art or a related area of study (i.e. design, animation, digital art, digital media, multi-media, computer graphics, film, etc) and 1 year of related industry experience;
  • OR (b) any Master's degree with coursework in new media art or a related area of study and 3 years of related industry experience;
  • OR (c) any Bachelor's degree with coursework in new media art or a related area of study and 5 years of related industry experience;
  • OR (d) any Associate's degree with coursework in new media art or a related area of study and 7 years of related industry experience.

If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting minimum qualifications may be considered.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Willingness to work with Running Start and Early College programs and pass required additional screening as necessary.
  • Demonstrated commitment and/or experience supporting the success of students.

  • Transcripts issued outside the United States of America require a course-by-course analysis with an equivalency statement from an agency having membership with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc., verifying the degree equivalency to that of an accredited institution within the USA will be required before date of hire.

    Expense of the evaluation shall be borne by the applicant.

Note: All minimum qualifications must be met by the effective date of appointment.
