Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid: Tues–Thurs onsite)
Role Overview
- Focus: Lead UX design for a daily games program, inspired by NY Times-style puzzle games.
- Scope: Design individual game experiences and a broader arcade system.
- Features include user profiles, leaderboards, social play, and daily streaks.
- Games are first-party, built internally without game engines
- Accessible via Client Search on desktop and mobile.
- Part of the Delight Team under Client, known for playful features like interactive games.
- The UX Designer will be the sole UX lead, collaborating with game designers, illustrators, and animators (who may not have UX backgrounds).
- Close partnership with artists and creatives; adaptability and cross-functional communication are key.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience: 5+ years in UX design (no upper limit), preferably in casual/daily/puzzle games.
- Skills:
- Strong UX and visual design blend.
- Proficiency in Figma for mocks/specs.
- Familiarity with After Effects and Photoshop (nice to have).
- Solid grasp of information architecture and cross-game UX systems (e.g., leaderboards, profiles).
- Ability to work independently and navigate legacy systems.
Tools & Systems
- Primary Design Tool: Figma.
- Games are built using internal tools, not third-party engines.
Additional Notes
- The UX Designer will contribute to defining the design system within Client material design and search frameworks.
- Success in the role involves finalizing proposals and mockups for new features.
- Challenges include collaborating with non-UX creatives and adapting to varied game development eras.
