User Experience (UX) Designer

Job description

Description
We are looking for a dynamic UX Designer for a remote opportunity!

Role Summary:

Hands-on design work is required, with proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.

Responsible for creating navigation workflows, user checkouts, and interaction designs for the app.

Conduct user testing to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.

Ability to shape and execute workflows, micro-interactions, and overall UI/UX design.

Create ready-to-use production art and proactively ensure elements are optimized and functional.

Design the entire user interface to guide users seamlessly from one place to the next.

Focus on features such as navigating through wagers and ensuring frictionless user experiences.

Opportunity to lead the creative direction from the ground up (greenfield), with freedom to propose new aesthetics or ideas.

Proven ability to work in 0-to-1 startup environments with end-to-end design ownership.

Strong mobile and consumer app design background.

Deep bench in interaction design, graphic design, production art, and micro-interactions.

Experience proactively testing and identifying issues within the app.

Expert-level proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.

Familiarity with design and prototyping/testing tools.

A true builder's mindset—willing to experiment, iterate, and innovate.

A proactive approach to creating solutions and driving success.

Experience in designing a complete check-out process and ability to update features like licensing requirements for games.

Preferred but Not Necessary

Gamification or Sports Gaming Expertise

Experience with gamification or designing for platforms like sports books is preferred but not required.

Soft Skills

Highly collaborative and able to work effectively with the team.

Comfortable offering fresh ideas and leading creative discussions, not just executing tasks.

Strong communication skills and ability to advocate for design decisions.

Requirements
· Minimum 6 years of professional design experience, with proven ownership of end-to-end product design.

· Strong background in consumer-facing mobile apps, ideally with complex interaction patterns (not just static or transactional flows).

· Deep skills in interaction design and animation/motion design (micro-interactions, transitions, flows that make products feel alive).

· Portfolio that demonstrates clean, polished, and sophisticated visual design that also feels playful/approachable for younger audiences.

· Experience working cross-functionally with product and engineering to ship live products.

Nice to haves:

· Prior experience with apps that use gaming, gamification, or habit loops (e.g. Uber, Headspace, Duolingo, fitness or language apps).

· Some branding/visual identity exposure, even if not primary strength.

· Familiarity with design systems at scale and how to evolve them for speed + consistency.

· Experience designing for engagement-driven apps with complexity “under the hood” — e.g. marketplaces, social products, or gamified experiences.

· A history of working in fast-paced startup environments where autonomy and ownership were key.

Note, mobile consumer app-focused is really important for this role - if their focus has been B2B, desktop, marketing collateral it is not a good fit
