The PlayStation brand operates under Sony Interactive Entertainment, a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation.

San Diego Studio is seeking a highly skilled User Interface Technical Designer to develop and support our game's front-end user interfaces.

You will collaborate with interface artists, using redlines and mock-ups to develop flexible interface systems.

Tasks may involve some ambiguity, so we seek designers capable of considering the entire picture and eager to tackle complex challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement interface screens pixel-perfect to mock-ups and redlines created by interface artists.

  • Collaborate with UI Artists and Game Designers to ensure mock-ups are technically feasible.

  • Work with the engineering team to establish data contracts for screen development.

  • Assist in building wireframes or mock-ups as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience developing user interfaces for video games or related fields, with familiarity in UI frameworks.

  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of the latest industry technology, workflows, and software.

  • Basic understanding of software programming methodologies and terminology.

  • Experience working on AAA console games or mobile experiences.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain technical requirements.

  • Ability to produce high-quality work efficiently within strict deadlines.

  • Ability to iterate and adapt based on feedback from design and playtests.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with C++ or other programming languages.

  • Knowledge of animation methodologies.

  • Experience developing for multiple platforms, including mobile or responsive web.

  • Intermediate skills in Figma and Photoshop.

  • Strong understanding of user experience, including UX, design, animation, art, and tooling.
