As a Utility Digital Consultant, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our utility clients, leading the development of innovative strategies and implementable solutions.

This role blends deep technical expertise with business consulting, requiring the ability to design enterprise information management strategies, oversee solution delivery teams, and advise client leadership on data, integration, and business process challenges.

As a Utility Digital Consultant, you will be expected to:

+ Engage comfortably with the full range of enterprise data integration tools and methods.

The Xtensible integrated methodology begins with understanding the business context and setting a clear strategy and plan for addressing the client’s business challenges.

The APC develops relationships with client management and APC’s advice is perceived by clients as important to successfully executing their project plans.



+ Contribute to proposal development, client relationships building and business development; manage individuals, delivery teams and multiple projects; and engage in thought leadership development.

In performing the essential functions of this role, the work environment is fast-paced, team-based, and frequent overnight travel is necessary.



+ Be a thought leader in supporting some aspects of Xtensible business strategy development including areas such as value proposition, competitive advantage, business justifications, etc.

Assist with the identification of strategic options based on solid fact base, criteria to evaluate and prioritize those options, and define future business models.



+ Advise client and Xtensible management on key project operational processes as needed including estimation, pricing, staffing decisions, project reviews, performance feedback:

+ Clarifies and communicates project objectives and success criteria;

+ Plays an active role in post-project evaluation and process iteration;

+ Provides leadership within project teams, working with the entire team to ensure innovative solutions and collaboration;

+ Ensures a positive, collaborative working environment for the team;

+ Directly supervises matrixed project staff and work;

+ Mentors and coaches project team members, as appropriate.




+ Technical Hands-On Development and implementation skills and experience in:

+ Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in languages relevant to the environment (e.g., Python, SQL, Java, or Shell scripting).



+ Cloud Development: Practical experience building, deploying, and troubleshooting solutions in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud).



+ Data Integration & Engineering: Ability to design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, and data transformations.



+ DevOps & Automation: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).



+ Problem Solving & Debugging: Demonstrated capability to diagnose and resolve issues in code, data flows, or cloud environments.




+ Continuous Learning and Certification Development

+ Active Certification Path: Commitment to earning and maintaining professional certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Data Engineer, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, etc.).



+ Structured Learning Approach: Ability to plan and execute a learning roadmap—combining vendor training, self-study, and hands-on labs.



+ Knowledge Application: Ability to apply newly learned concepts from certifications directly into ongoing projects, demonstrating real-world value.



+ Awareness of Emerging Technologies: Curiosity and initiative to stay current on industry trends, evolving cloud services, and best practices.




+ Achieves a personal utilization target of 75% by the following means:

+ Conducting workshops and/or product training;

+ Participating in project work either as an account manager or a senior level consultant.





What You Bring to SAM

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

+ Minimum of 10+ years consulting and professional services experience within the business information or IT sector, preferably software product companies.



+ Experience consulting services required, with focus on enterprise software and/or the utility business domain.



+ Excellent understanding of professional service systems and processes.



+ Successful record of developing client relationships, contributing to business development, and revenue generation.



+ Established record of leading projects and cross-functional teams.

Skills in managing a budget and resources allocation.



+ A strong network of potential employees, contractors, developers, and contract services.



+ Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.



+ Demonstrated teambuilding and coaching skills.



+ Strong people skills, capable of building trust and rapport with customers and colleagues.



+ Ability to work well with engineers, operations, sales and external customers, good team player.



+ College degree in electrical engineering, business, computer science or related field.



Consulting Services and Technical Skills:

+ Business & Information Modeling: Solutions architecture (RAD/SAD) using ArchiMate and UML, enterprise data management (EDM), and IEC CIM–based data modeling.



+ Systems Architecture & Data Modeling: Requirements gathering, gap analysis, and business team facilitation.

Skilled in data mapping (source → SCIM → target), logical/context/physical data modeling (XSD, DDL, JSON, RDF), and service modeling (WSDL, RESTful).



+ Implementation & Support: Sample data validation (e.g., XML payloads), implementation team support, process definition, and governance of data models.
