Vascular Surgeon, Open Rank Faculty Position Job Opening In Charlottesville – Now Hiring University of Virginia


Job description

The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for an open track Vascular & Endovascular Surgery faculty position.

This position will offer the opportunity to participate in growth of vascular surgery clinical care services and lead efforts in development of our limb-preservation program.

A special interest in lower extremity disease is preferred.

Meaningful involvement in student, resident, and fellow mentorship and teaching is expected.

Candidates desiring to serve the vascular patient population in an academic environment, pursuing scholarly achievement, will be considered.

Rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications.

The Department of Surgery has strong ACGME accredited training programs with a reputation for excellence, including our Vascular Surgery program currently consisting of 5 plus 2 (accredited independent pathway) fellows, and our general surgery residency.

Our Heart & Vascular Center is intimately involved in strategy, as well as resource identification and implementation to provide program advancement.

The University of Virginia Health System is a major referral institution with several system growth initiatives in process.

We care for patients with the full spectrum of vascular disease.

Our ambulatory and inpatient practices focus on complex vascular surgery, including open and endovascular management of aortic and branch pathologies, lower extremity ischemia, venous diseases, vascular access, and cerebrovascular disease.

We enjoy state-of-the-art endovascular hybrid operating rooms, negative flow interventional and catheterization suites, and modern cardiovascular intensive care and ward units.

Our group has both inpatient and ambulatory collaborative and highly skilled advanced practice partners.

The successful candidate would practice in all elements of vascular and endovascular surgery practice in our team-and-center-based care programs, Our group is integral to care at UVA as a level I Trauma Center and an accredited Stroke Center.

The candidate’s main clinical and leadership efforts will be to engage and lead focused development of our multidisciplinary limb-preservation program in collaboration with our unified team of medical specialists, interventional colleagues and surgical podiatric service.

UVA is located in beautiful Charlottesville, VA with easy access to the Blue Ridge Mountains, the eastern shore and the nation's Capital.

This is an extraordinary clinical, research and teaching environment at one of the top universities in the country.

Candidates must have a Medical Degree and have completed, or be currently completing, a vascular fellowship or residency.

Candidates must be board-eligible or board-certified in vascular surgery and have expertise in the care of vascular patients with a particular interest in limb-preservation and peripheral arterial disease.

Possession of RVT or RVPI is required as we also manage multiple Diagnostic Vascular Laboratory sites.

Interested individuals must possess a strong interest in a career in academic medicine as demonstrated through past experience with research or teaching pursuits and a thoughtful, prepared proposal for an academic career path.
