At Beacon Veterinary Specialists , we’re looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Technician Assistant (TA) .


This role supports our veterinarians and staff with a focus on surgical support, patient care, and maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment.


This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital, contributing to the highest level of care for the animals we serve.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:



  • Prepare the surgery suite and instruments at the start of your shift, ensuring readiness for scheduled surgeries throughout the day.

  • Clean all areas between procedures and perform end-of-shift cleaning.
  • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, ensuring no instruments are left unclean at the end of the shift.
  • Clean and maintain patient areas, including cages and runs, ensuring no storage in runs.
  • Wash and put away patient dishes.
  • Assist with animal restraint during examinations, radiographs, ultrasounds, and treatments as needed.
  • Perform in-house blood work and prepare samples for transport to external labs.
  • Ensure hospital cleanliness throughout the day, including mopping floors and wiping down surfaces.
  • Manage laundry and waste disposal, including emptying garbage cans and transporting waste to dumpsters.
  • Stock and refill medical supplies, such as alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, chlorhexidine scrub, and ultrasound gel throughout the hospital.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper stocking of exam rooms and anesthetic machines.
  • Support outpatient technicians with treatments such as subcutaneous fluids, nail trims, ear cleanings, and anal gland expression (excluding procedures that require training by a licensed RVT).

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of veterinary hospital operations and animal care.
  • Comfortable around animal of all sizes.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
