The Opportunity

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, is inviting applicants for a non-tenure track temporary faculty position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor.

This is a teaching position with an expectation of teaching 4 sections the Spring 2026 semester.

The successful candidate will have a strong desire to focus on innovative and high-quality instruction in a collegial and collaborative environment and will hold an earned PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.

Candidates with prior teaching and/or industrial experience are encouraged to apply.

Candidates are expected to be capable of teaching undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering and engineering sciences.

Course sections typically range from 15-40 students.

Particular areas of interest include: dynamics, thermodynamics, materials, instrumentation, and controls.

This position requires physical presence at the Daytona Beach Campus.

Relocation to the Daytona Beach, FL, area is required; applicants seeking purely remote work will not be considered.

About the Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, serves over 500 students at the BS, MS, and PhD levels.

The department features undergraduate tracks in High-Performance Vehicles, Robotics & Autonomous Systems, Energy Systems, and Biomedical Systems.

The ME department places a heavy emphasis on experiential education and sponsors a wide variety of student projects including Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Solar District Cup, EcoCAR, RobotX, IGVC, SUAS, RoboBoat, and RoboSub.

The department also has a strong profile in applied research in areas such as robotics and autonomous systems, energy systems, advanced powertrains, and biomedical.

The department has a stable faculty and offers a positive, collegial, and collaborative work environment.
