Job Description

The successful candidate will oversee the Teacher Certification Program in Spanish and will teach four courses per semester, including Hispanic Linguistics, Grammar, Phonetics and Phonology, Methods in Foreign Language Instruction, Spanish for Heritage Speakers, etc., as well as lower-level Spanish courses.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Hispanic/Spanish Linguistics by the time of appointment.

The candidate will be expected to be a quality teacher, mentor, and collegial citizen of the academy, to be demonstrated through a variety of student learning outcomes, and service on local and professional committees.

Required Qualifications:
+ PhD in Hispanic/Spanish Linguistics.

Advanced ABD will be considered; Degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.



Preferred qualifications:
+ Preference will be given to candidates with suitable teaching experience in Hispanic Linguistics, or Methods in Foreign Language Instruction, or general Spanish courses and a strong commitment to undergraduate Liberal Arts education.
+ Particularly welcome would be a strong interest in Spanish in the United States within a Hispanic/Spanish Linguistics context, and its implications for areas such as heritage learner education, language variation, language contact within a nation or across borders, and related areas.
