Job Description

McCormick Taylor is seeking a licensed PE with a BS in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Water Resources Engineering and 5 to 15+ years' experience with an emphasis on water resources related design, water quality improvements and assessment and watershed restoration and planning.

The position is based in Raleigh, NC, Columbia or Charleston, SC but with the opportunity to work remotely with a flexible approach to scheduling.

This position is an excellent opportunity in a growing office to design and manage projects that will improve water quality and resiliency in the watersheds in which we live and play, while playing an integral part in our team’s growth within the North Carolina and South Carolina market sectors.

  • Watershed, Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling using WinTR-55/TR-20, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PC/XPSWMM, and other water resources software, including Inroads Storm and Sanitary and OpenRoads, Geopak
  • Preparation of drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and staging and construction plans as well as specifications and engineering estimates for water resources and transportation projects
  • Modeling of riverine systems and floodplains in support of hydraulic culvert and bridge structure design, impact assessment and environmental permitting including FEMA CLOMR, LOMR, etc.
  • Collection and analysis of field data, as-built plans and engineering reports to establish existing conditions and identify proposed design constraints
  • Design of stormwater management systems for water quality and quantity control
  • Hydraulic support for the design of stream restoration, wetland restoration or innovative water quality improvement BMP projects
  • Understanding and implementation of MS4 Permit requirements, including TMDLs
  • Completion of watershed studies and modeling
  • Occasional construction oversight of water resources improvement and environmental restoration projects
  • The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of Hydrologic and Hydraulic design principles and practices in North Carolina/South Carolina.

    NCDOT and NC, SCDOT and SC environmental permitting design experience preferred.
  • The candidate should have hands-on experience using MicroStation or AutoCAD Civil 3D.

    GeoPak, InRoads, and OpenRoads experience a plus
  • Experience with 2-dimensional hydraulic modeling a plus
  • CFM and CEPSCI Certifications a plus
  • Familiarity with SCDOT Hydraulic, Road and Bridge Standards preferred;
  • NCDOT, SCDOT, VDOT, or FDOT experience a plus
  • Job Requirements
  • BS degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or similar accredited field; Emphasis on Water Resources preferable
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina or South Carolina; additional states a plus
