TITLE:



  • Youth Programs Substitute ACCOUNTABILITY: Education Director STATUS: As needed/Hourly/Non-Exempt PAY: 15.40 Hourly ________________________________________________________________ Basic Job Purpose: The Youth Programs Substitute is responsible for maintaining a warm, healthy environment to promote the total growth and well-being of the children in the early education program as well as our Child Watch and Children’s Waiting room programs.

      The Youth Programs Substitute roll is to sub in program areas as needed.

  • This role will have the responsibility of assisting the teacher as a team member in the daily operation of their classroom, child watch, or children’s waiting room program by maintaining quality early childhood education and care for all participants and insuring compliance in all state regulations and DOD Standards.
  • This position is as needed to assist with programs.

Functions and Duties:



  • · Assist the teacher in implementation of daily schedule and curriculum with attention to the needs of the children, including quality, health, safety, and cleanliness of environment beyond minimum regulations and requirements.

    · Be prepared to participate in all children’s activities, including but not limited to classroom activities, field trips, outdoor play, swim, gym, and family or special organizational events.

    · Sustain nurturing and responsive interactions with children.

    · Interact and play with children on their level, as age appropriate.

    · Aid teacher with maintaining accurate records, appointments, following all sign in and out procedures with respect to confidentiality.

    · Maintain a safe and clean environment.

    · Open and close CWR and/or Child Watch room, as needed.

    · Collaborate with teachers to engage and support parents while maintaining open communication.

    · Allow flexibility in your position and schedule to ensure quality care.

    · Lead by example; encourage classroom success through modeling positive behaviors.

    · Inform the teacher immediately when social, mental health, educational or medical services appear necessary for any child in the classroom.

    · Resolve conflicts when necessary to ensure a positive experience for everyone and in cooperation with the procedures established by the teacher.

    · Participate in team meetings and professional development training as requested by the teacher.

    · Monitor and provide suggestions to ensure playground and classrooms are maintained to the highest standards.

    · Ensure supplies are requested to teacher in a timely manner.

    · Report unsafe conditions to teacher.

  • Immediately correct condition, if possible.

    · Assist in other ASYMCA program areas or special events as needed, occasionally outside of the standard CWR and/or Child Watch work schedule but within allocated weekly hours.

    · Be familiar with and able to refer program participants to other existing ASYMCA programs and services.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.

  • Physical demands include the ability to bend, stretch and be on your feet for long periods of time.

  • Must possess a positive attitude and eagerness to learn and teach.

  • Knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Post Hire Requirements:



  • 1.

  • Successfully pass and maintain all background checks to include Installation Record Check, State Check, Fingerprint, and CNACI.

    2.
  • Successfully complete all required training and certifications required by the ASYMCA and DOD guidelines.

    3.
  • Hiring is based on a 6-month probationary period, followed by a re-evaluation to ensure requirements are being met.
