Position Summary
Spectral Labs has an opportunity for an Applied Scientist to support multiple technology and hardware development programs. Working with senior staff, the candidate will contribute to the development of radiation sensing and security screening technologies in the areas of concept development, laboratory testing, instrumentation development and product transition.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry or engineering with at least 8 years of experience, or a master's degree with at least 4 years of experience, or a Ph.D.
- Works well independently and develops quick engineering solutions for complex problems
- High problem-solving skills and good tolerance for ambiguity
- Capable of using basic lab tools and diagnostic instruments (DVM, oscilloscope etc.)
- 3 + years experience designing experiments, collecting and processing data from laboratory instrumentation
- Experience with statistical and general-purpose programming languages for data analysis
- Experience with data exploration, data cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, or data mining is a plus
- Experience with radiation detection, handling and working with radiological sources is a plus
- Experience working with mmW (RF) imaging and sensing technologies is a plus
- A DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain one is required for this position.
- Capable of self-directed learning of new techniques and technologies
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members to develop test and data collection execution plans
- Working closely with senior scientific staff, lead data collection campaigns for Spectral Labs research programs.
- Assist in data curation, data analysis and documentation of results.
- Perform instrument calibration and validation at specialized offsite facilities.
- Identify and troubleshoot design problems in prototype instruments Support instrument development and integration testing.
- Support travel as necessary to support specialized testing and data collection.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to transition products into production
The annual pay scale for this position is $92,544 - $145,989 (salaried). Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience. There is no relocation assistance for this position. Employment is contingent on applicants sucessfully passing a criminal background check.
