Schneider Electric is seeking a motivated individual to serve as Senior Assembly Process Engineer for support of process development in the Schneider Electric Energy Management, Home and Distribution division. Individual is responsible to develop full and semi-automated assembly processes for new product introduction with a systematic approached to qualification and transfer to operations. The position reports to the Automation & Assembly Chapter Leader. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB Participate with the Design function during the design phase of products to guide the Design for Assembly (DFA) relying on your experiences in production support. Be a driving force in the choice of assembly technologies by informing projects about limits and advantages of different technologies. Evaluate and validate product design alternatives to create optimum process designs by applying knowledge of product design, assembly, fixturing and materials. Ability to compare process scenarios for profitability and return on investment. Create detailed capacity analysis studies using various assembly methods and techniques. Comparison of manual, semi-auto and fully automated solutions. Define and Design front elevations for work station Plan and establish the sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization of resources (machine and human). Experience with line balancing techniques. Define the industrial technologies needed to assemble new products by utilizing the FMEA, VSM and Auto vs Manual studies. Enlighten the projects on the necessary levels of investment according to the scenarios envisioned. Contribute to the target product cost by providing the product estimated assembly time using systemic methods such as MTM Write specification and qualification plans for the means, tools, equipment, and production lines to produce the product. Estimate equipment cost and maintain the budget throughout the life cycle of a project Lead supplier and equipment selection Manage the realization of the production means at our suppliers (internal or external). Be strongly invested in the technical choices of the different equipment with manufacturing feasibility studies, cost of quality analysis and cross-functional peer reviews. Maintain and develop relationships with suppliers. Drive the qualification of the means (equipment and processes) at our supplier and internal operation sites. Participate in the ramp up of the production means to the operations site by leading training, industrial file definition and assistance with material setup and process flow. Cross functional collaboration between plants, project managers, engineering, and other project team members EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics 5-10+ years experience in manufacturing industry directly supporting assembly operations Methods, maintenance or factory production support specialized in high volume OR Realization and development of specialized machines Preferred Experience: 5-10+ years experience industrialization of new products Receiving new products into operations facility, OR Realization of industrial process in operations facility with new product Application on Lean and Six Sigma techniques – Experience in Lean Manufacturing tools (5S, Value Stream mapping, Kaizen events, Visual Workplace, etc.) Examples of continuous improvement, both to existing processes and launch of new ones, positively impacting safety, quality, and overall labor efficiency metrics TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AutoCAD Creo (ProE) or Solidworks Basic understanding of PLC programming Familiar with vision systems (Cognex, Keyence) Familiar with motion controllers and actuators (IAI, Yasakawa) Experience with electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems PREFFERED TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Simulation or production modeling tools (FlexSim, Lanner Witness, Rockwell Arena or equivalent) SE PLC experience Basic understanding of MES / MIS systems Experience in resistance welding, riveting, screwdriving, laser marking, label application, or grease application TRAVEL Routine travel required up to 25% (domestic and international based on project assignment) Project travel can increase to 50% for short periods during certain launch phases of the project CRITICAL BEHAVIORS Able to work within a multidisciplinary and multicultural project team: Technical, Purchasing, Industrialization, Marketing, Quality on projects lasting one to three years and will ensure the link with the operations facility (participation in design and peer reviews for concept selection) Demonstrate ability to perform root cause analysis and develop action plans to strategically eliminate barriers Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal) Proven ability to influence and convince through negotiation.
