We are seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology committed to excellence in teaching to join our vibrant academic community. This position has a start date in August 2024, is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 9-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position. The School of Psychology, Sociology & Rural Studies offers undergraduate majors in Criminology, Psychology, and Sociology; undergraduate minors in Criminal Justice, Mental Health Services, Psychology, and Sociology; and a Master’s degree in Community Development. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach in-person and online undergraduate courses in Psychology (typical courseload per academic year is three courses in the fall term and three courses in the spring term; summer teaching is optional and is based on availability). Mentor undergraduate students in research. Maintain an active research program. Provide service to the School, College, and University as well as service to the profession. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of a doctoral degree in Psychology (or a closely related area at the doctoral level) by start date with a specialty in applied behavior analysis, clinical psychology, or health psychology. Experience in teaching at the college/university level in psychology with evidence of teaching effectiveness. Potential or experience in teaching one or more of the following: Introduction to Psychology, History & Systems of Psychology, or Abnormal Psychology. Evidence of a promising research program. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience mentoring undergraduate research. Online teaching experience. Grant-writing experience. Potential or experience in developing/teaching a course in area of expertise.
