JOB SUMMARY
:
Under general direction drives and operates city vehicles in the transporting of senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Drive a mini-bus in a safe and efficient manner using an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) to maintain an effective schedule of delivery.
Provide assistance to passengers.
Complete reports via Mobile Data Terminals (MDT).
Maintain two-way radio contact.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Clean the vehicle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of streets and public facilities in the city.
Knowledge of basic two-way radio communication and speak in a clear manner.
Skill to operate a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT).
Skill in making simple arithmetic calculations.
Skill in reading and interpreting maps, and Global Positioning System (GPS).
Skill in responding to/applying established procedures for emergency situations.
Skill in operating a two-way radio.
Skill in communicating with other city employees and the public by oral and written means.
Ability to be empathetic and cognizant of problems and needs regarding the elderly and citizens with disabilities.
Ability to maneuver a special transit vehicle safely through traffic.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound.
Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including but not limited to driving, seeing, carrying, pushing and writing.
Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 50 pounds.
Ability to operate special transit vehicles.
Incumbent is subject to infectious disease hazards.
Qualifying Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Six months related experience. Ability to obtain Texas CDL Class C with Passenger Endorsement within six months.
Pre-employment Screening :
Criminal Background, Motor Vehicle, Physical and Human Performance Evaluation (HPE) Drug and Alcohol testing.
Thisposition is deemed as safety-sensitive and is subject to drug and alcoholtesting. Employment for safety-sensitive positions will be made contingent uponthe results of the required drug and alcohol tests. Employees in Citysafety-sensitive positions may be selected for testing on a random basis undera regularly scheduled testing program.
