Controls Engineer – Oakland County, Michigan & Haywood County, Tennessee – Contract – 12 Months + Our client, a global integrator of automation systems are recruiting Controls Engineers for up coming projects in Q2 2024. These are long term contract opportunities that will utilise your experience as a Controls Engineer to design, install and commission complex automation systems within a variety of industries. Based on Oakland County, this contract as a Controls Engineer will be based there for a approximately 3 months before heading to installation and commissioning in the field. During this time you will support the design and build of automated systems at our clients site before they are shipped to their customers for installation and commissioning. Typically projects are within the automotive industry however there are other unique projects that may be available. Responsibilities as a Controls Engineer may include;Designing and developing PLC & HMI software for new control systems;Testing, maintaining and modifying existing PLC and HMI systems;Analysing data and presenting findings in written reports;Working collaboratively with electrical engineers, process engineers, and other staffLiaising with clients, suppliers, contractors Troubleshooting and problem-solving Providing advice and consultancy supportProduce written software test proceduresAssist in developing new business proposalsCommunicate in a professional and courteous manner when dealing with customer, suppliers and company staff.Complete and file all relevant documentation in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.Maintain good communications with all interested parties to the project.Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and best practice at all times.Serve as a mentor to less experienced software engineersPerform as a technical leader or lead software engineer if required Collaborate and add value through participation in peer software reviews, providing comments and suggestions as appropriate Such duties as directed by a Manager which may be necessary, from time to time, & may be reasonably required. For this contract role as a Controls Engineer you will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of programming Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC’s. You experience will include experience within the automotive industry and programming to standards used by GM or Ford. Any certifications in GM standards is a plus will offer a higher rate per hour. To be considered as a Controls Engineer you will have the right to work in the USA, either a US Citizen, eligible for a TN Visa or hold a B1 in Lieu of H1b Visa. This opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate which is negotiable depending on experience, certification, self employed or W2. Whilst the work is in Oakland County the project is considered local and therefore expenses cannot be offered.
