Job Description
Under supervision, assists in the performance of corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance on the electrical components and instrumentation in the water and wastewater systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Ability to learn about and apply maintenance of water treatment processes and equipment, safety, regulatory requirements, and general electrical/instrument/SCADA maintenance procedures.
2. Ability to participate in the performance of corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance of the electrical components and instrumentation of water treatment, distribution, elevated tank and lift station equipment and facilities including complex, specialized and/or high voltage (4160) systems and equipment.
3. Ability to utilize PC and other computer software and equipment to install, maintain, calibrate, program, and repair plant supervisory, control, and data acquisition (SCADA) computers and components.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
4. Ability to communicate the status of equipment and processes to others.
5. Ability to use the computerized maintenance management system.
6. Ability to purchase and receive materials and other supplies.
7. Ability to respond to customer requests and assist in conducting special projects and studies for management
as requested.
8. Ability to serve on the Water Treatment Safety Committee.
9. Ability to perform general maintenance activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of basic electrical/instrumentation tools and repair methods. Knowledge of function and assembly of electrical/instrumentation equipment. Knowledge of advanced math. Basic computer skills (word processing and spreadsheets). Basic skill in reading and interpreting drawings, electrical plans, ladder logic and diagrams of electronic circuitry. Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to operate a variety of equipment including, but not limited to a PC, fax machine, radio, laboratory equipment, hand tools, plant process equipment, power tools, instrumentation, calculator, copier and pick-up truck. Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including, but not limited to carrying, climbing, dragging, driving, filing, holding, kneeling, lifting up to 100 pounds, pulling, pushing, seeing, sitting, sorting, squatting, standing, stooping, typing, walking and writing. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound. Ability to organize tasks. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Qualifying Education and Experience :
High school diploma and vocational/technical training including course work in computer science, electrical and instrument repair and maintenance of electrical equipment. Valid Texas Driver License, Class C. Required to obtain a Class D Water Operator's License or higher from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, within five (5) months of employment.
