JOB SUMMARY
:
Under general direction, provide a safe, clean and efficient aquatic environment for employees and patrons.Prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatics incidents/injuries.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Ability to prevent and respond to emergency situations in or out of the water.
2. Ability to work effectively with the public and departmental staff to address inquiries for information, assistance, resolution of complaints, and facility maintenance.Ability to assist with customer surveying projects.
3. Ability to learn and carry out work location procedures involving customer service, general office administration, safety, facility maintenance, and cash control.
4. Ability to coordinate and schedule programs such as public events, facility rentals, and special meetings
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
5.Ability to operate a variety of tools and implements including a pool vacuum, air pump, and lifesaving devices such as a backboard, rescue tube, ring buoy, shepherd’s crook and CPR/First Aid equipment.
6. Ability to operate various office machines such as a personal computer, fax machine, telephone, calculator, etc.
7. Ability to work with various organizations, individuals and other departments to accommodate needs for facility access, program information, or facility orientation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of water safety principles and practices Knowledge of rescue methods involving water accidents and other types of trauma Knowledge of general office and facility management to ensure a safe and productive experience for facility users and customers. Ability to learn and apply computer skills to register customers, authorize refunds, and account for site revenues. Ability to apply appropriate interpersonal skills with the public and city staff to maintain positive relations. Ability to maintain the cleanliness and safe condition of the work site. Qualifying Education and Experience:
The above knowledge, skills and abilities may be demonstrated by a high school education or the equivalent.Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above. Possession of life saving/guarding certification (American Red Cross).Demonstrated completion of CPR and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer.
