Job description

Position Summary

The Manager of Data Center Infrastructure is responsible for planning and managing the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and secure data center services.

This role oversees the daily operations of enterprise-wide infrastructure supporting clinical, business, and communication applications.

The Manager ensures interoperability, manages security risks, optimizes costs, and enables scalable growth while serving as a technology advocate across the organization.

Areas of responsibility include compute, network, storage, data protection, hyperconverged infrastructure, structured cabling, power distribution, cooling systems, fire detection/suppression, monitoring, and cloud computing.

Key Responsibilities




  • Lead the activities of the Data Center Infrastructure team to ensure continuous operation of critical systems.




  • Oversee planning, deployment, and lifecycle management of infrastructure standards, technology upgrades, and operational programs.




  • Define and execute data center strategy, including redesigns, consolidations, and migrations.




  • Evaluate emerging technologies, identify opportunities for early adoption, and align solutions with organizational goals.




  • Ensure high availability systems in a 24/7, geographically dispersed environment.




  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate service level agreements, and oversee hardware/software contracts.




  • Monitor industry trends and maintain knowledge of innovations in infrastructure and cloud computing.




  • Develop and manage capital and operating budgets, financial plans, and cost optimization initiatives.




  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST, JCAHO).




  • Collaborate with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and clinical staff to align technology with organizational priorities.




  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning, including periodic testing.




  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing technical team; provide coaching, career development, and performance management.




  • Promote customer service excellence by delivering reliable support, maintaining trust, and exceeding service expectations.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).




  • 5–7 years of IT management or professional experience supporting data center infrastructure (healthcare experience preferred).




  • Strong technical background with proven success in large, complex organizations.




  • Expertise in compute, network, storage, data protection, hyperconverged infrastructure, cabling, power distribution, cooling, monitoring, and cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred).




  • Experience with data center redesigns, consolidations, and migrations.




  • Strong understanding of healthcare information systems (Epic, Cerner), cybersecurity, and clinical operations.




  • Demonstrated success delivering high availability infrastructure across distributed environments.




  • Ability to evaluate technologies, build consensus, and define technical standards.




  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage and motivate diverse technical teams.




  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
