The Local Bridge Engineer (PCE I) position is open statewide within the Bureau of Local Projects with the Kansas Department of Transportation. This position has the ability to be located at any KDOT area throughout the State of Kansas .
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
The Local Bridge Engineer (PCE I) is responsible for the oversight and coordination of bridge design on federally funded projects developed by local public authorities. This person also works with the Bridge Team Leader to administer the local portion of the National Bridge Inspection Program (NBIP). Assignments are made to complete Bureau reviews within established timeframes and to provide adequate quality assurance of the NBIP. This person provides advice and mentoring to other Bridge Team members relative to addressing engineering problems in the field of structural design, hydraulics, and hydrology and bridge inspection.

Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) accredited engineering school. Licensing & Certificate
Valid Driver’s License Professional Engineers License recognized by the State of Kansas Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of 4 years’ experience in engineering. Preferred Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of knowledge of the policies, design criteria, and procedures used in developing bridge plans. An understanding of the concerns of local government highway agencies, hydrology, hydraulics, and bridge inspection are also considered important. A minimum of four years of experience in design, construction, or inspection of bridges and bridge projects. is highly desirable. Post-Offer/Pre-employment Requirements
