JOBSUMMARY:
To mentor youth with the aim ofproviding support, guidance, positive interaction, exposure to positiveactivities, opportunities to learn life skills and positive problem-solvingskills through a strength-based trauma informed approach.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide weekly mentoring sessions implementing social emotional learning, life skills, and peer-to-peer mentoring. Work as a team to help establish a trusting and dependable relationship that can place the youth on a positive path to success. Assist youth to further developing life skills such as self-confidence, self-esteem, academic excellence, and moral values. Enable and encourage positive decision-making and helping youth learn to take responsibility for actions, to see their victims as people, and to see the value in themselves Demonstrate good character, emotional stability, and a responsible adult lifestyle OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Connect youth and families with needed and available community resources Follow-up with youth, parents, and agencies as appropriate to regarding referrals
Maintain case note documentation, data collection Provide all required documentation in a timely manner, which may include youth follow-up, outcome evaluation, and youth contact sheets Maintain a heavy caseload Adhere to agency policy, procedures, and the professional code of ethics

Ability to work with at risk youth Ability to motivate others towards achieving goals Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open personal qualities, clear sense of boundaries. A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both youth and fellow employees. Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate. Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and provide own transportation. Valid drivers license. Qualifying Education andExperience:
High school diploma with a minimumof two years experience in a similar position working with at-riskyouth. Possession of a valid Texas Operator's License, Class C.
