Emergency Department - Peer Support Worker
Exciting Consumer Peer Support role Emergency Department CPSW based at Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated peer support worker, to work as part of a team to actively engage our emergency department consumers. Peer workers will work alongside EMH and ED clinical staff to help provide the very best care to consumers in a high pressure environment. You will also provide referrals for suitable consumer to our many other peer support post discharge programs.
Your new team
Provide support for individuals as they access emergency mental health and AoD services. Works closely with the IWAMHS Emergency Mental Health Team located within the Royal Melbourne Hospital Emergency Department and will be supported by the RMH ED. About you:
Empower consumers to make their own choices about their treatment and recovery with an emphasis on strengthening their internal resources to move forward. High level of resilience and the ability to work in a high pressure environment Support individuals to create external links in the community for ongoing support. Assist consumers by ensuring they actively participate in their own identified recovery goals. Work with a clinical team, requires an understanding of how mental health services work, a resilient and positive approach, and good communication skills.
